December 8, 2011 ::
As the last day of regular classes comes to a chilly close, the temper of the TCU campus takes on its typical late semester tone—happy anticipation of the holidays, marred by the shadow of finals on the horizon. I would say I could smell the changes in the air, but an unfortunate coffee accident this morning has left me, temporarily, without a sense of smell.
But above all the usual and/or unusual madness, I find myself with a unique set of thoughts as I wrap up this 1st semester of my 3rd year here in the Fort.
First, tonight. Tonight is not only the final showing of the TCU Dance Program’s senior choreography projects, but also the much anticipated release of this semester’s eleven40seven journal of the arts.
One of my poems will be featured in the print component of the magazine, and a film by my friends and I will be published online. I’m pretty excited, but not so ready to present these pieces.
Secondly, I’ve got le France on my mind. After spending the last two months of my life jumping through every hoop the Cinquième République could throw my way, I now have my visa, and I’m ready to spend the semester studying at the University of Nantes.
And, this, dear friends, brings me back to the final thing on my plate: this vlog experiment. Over the next six months, you’ll find me here every two weeks with an update on me, a typical TCU honors student, thriving (we hope) en France.
I look forward to journeying with you through the good times and the bad times, the wacky cultural missteps and the small, yet precious victories.
Au revoir,
B

What is TCU going to do without Bill Hamlett?! It will be a long semester, indeed, even with the periodic updates.
