15 December 2011 ::
Here we are. 3 days away from the freedom that every student is craving. Christmas break is rapidly approaching but is it coming quickly enough?
As I sit here typing as I take my first study break in 4 days, my sleep deprived brain is dazzled by the dreams of what I’m going to do over the holidays. Tan on the beach? Perhaps. Sit by a fire? Maybe. Wish I was back at school? Decidedly not.
My holiday, as I hope is the case with yours, will be filled with much needed rest and relaxation. Maybe I’ll read a book…maybe I won’t. Perhaps I’ll see if I can break my record of the number of grapes I can fit in my little brothers mouth (twenty-four, I’m shooting for 30). I certainly plan on catching up on my TV shows (House and Modern Family) and then maybe I’ll go and see my favorite childhood hero Sherlock Holmes be turned, once again, into the sleuth of the silver screen.
Thinking of the possibilities is truly intoxicating. But fellow Horned Frogs I wish nothing but focus and success to you all in this joyful season! Know that in a mere number of hours (roughly 75) you shall be free to engage in holiday festivities. For now however, I must return to my studies. Plato is beckoning me back to the study of his dear Republic and I must oblige him. Before I go however, I leave you this advent season with the words of Madeline Morse:
Let Christmas not become a thing
Merely of merchant’s trafficking,
Of tinsel, bell and holly wreath
And surface pleasure, but beneath
The childish glamour, let us find
Nourishment for soul and mind.
Let us follow kinder ways
Through our teeming human maze,
And help the age of peace to come
From a Dreamer’s martyrdom.
–Madeline Morse
Merry Christmas!
Well said. Gods Blessings to you this Chistmas.
