As a senior, there is one staple question that always seems to get asked, “What are you going to do after you graduate?”
For some students, the answer is easy and has been established since they declared their majors.
But for the many seniors facing indecision over the next chapter of their lives, we encounter a frustrating amount of uncertainty. However, a small amount of hope also remains: the hope that the long-awaited dream job may come our way. A lingering idea persists that we won’t take just any entry-level out-of-college opportunity, but instead will find that incredible, never-saw-it-coming, dream-come-true position.
For me, the Fulbright Scholarship is my long-shot, dream job.
The Fulbright Program offers opportunities for students to undertake international graduate study and teaching in elementary and secondary schools worldwide. I applied to the program wanting to teach English in Malaysia, and found out last week that I had been selected by the committee as a Fulbright Finalist. While this by no means secures me a spot in the program, I passed the first round and now must wait to hear back from the Malaysian government.
So although I must still answer that same, maddening simple question with “I’m not sure yet,” the Fulbright has inspired me along with three other TCU students to hope for something more.

Fulbright would be lucky to have you.
Wow, Hannah, congrats! So proud of you!
