The TCU Hunt Seat Team had a large victory on Friday.  They beat the #1 team in the nation, the University of Georgia.  The season had been rough, starting out the fall semester with all away matches against the top six teams in the nation.

Under the guidance of our new head coach, Logan Fiorentino, the team rallied together for a sweet win against an incredibly talented team.  Logan is a graduate of the University of Georgia as well as earning her Masters’ Degree from UGA and coaching the Hunt Seat Team upon her graduation.  She rode on their NCAA team so needless to say she wanted to win on Friday against her former team.

Our girls truly felt the competition in the air as we were leading 3-2 after the fences portion of the competition.  We kept laying down solid rounds and after the initial round, a hope rose in everybody’s eyes that we could actually beat the top team.  Going in to the second phase, the flat phase, the pressure was on.  Three girls tied their UGA opponents which is an unheard of number in this sport.  Finally, two TCU riders got their points and amazement spread across the arena.  We actually did it, we came from being ranked #10 to beating the #1 team.

The team has worked so hard to get to this point, a new coach that leads to new team dynamics, and a large freshman class.  We hope to continue in our winning ways as we head to the National Championships in Waco, TX, hosted by Baylor University from April 11-13.  Come out and show your support for this exciting, young team!
