Hometown: Monument, Colorado
Majors: Sociology/Spanish
Campus involvement: TCU Equestrian Team, Kappa Alpha Theta Sorority
Why I chose TCU: When I visited campus, I loved the Texas culture and of course the Equestrian Team. All of the girls were so sweet when I met with them and I knew that was the kind of environment I could see myself thriving in for the next four years.
Favorite class: I absolutely love my Social Problems class with Dr. Thompson. We learn about social issues and suggest ways to solve them in a global context. We have covered controversial topics ranging from abortion to poverty and as a Sociology major, I am very interested in how social interactions have influenced relationships and outcomes.
Favorite TCU memory: So far, it was the Rose Bowl. I have absolutely loved the football culture because coming from a small prep school in Colorado, I never had this experience. The school rallies for our team and it is so cool to see everybody come together. It was so apparent how much spirit we had when we only accounted for 1/3 of the stadium, yet won the game against a much larger and more fierce Wisconsin opponent. Also, so many of my friends are from California so I could spend time with them and experience something new!
What I want to do with my major: I would like to go on and get a Masters in Public Health. I would like to help global health agencies receive medical supplies for global issues such as HIV/AIDS. I would love to do this work in another country, such as Africa or utilizing my Spanish background in Spain or South America.
Three unusual things about myself:
- I cannot stand the cold.
- I skipped a grade.
- My favorite place in the world is Lebanon because I am half Middle-Eastern.
