KARI B.

Hometown: Naperville, IL

Major: Strategic Communication

What I want to do with my major: I’m still not exactly sure what I want to do with my major. It offers many possibilities, like working in an ad agency or doing PR for a nonprofit. I’ll just see where life takes me!

Campus involvement: SGA, Kappa Alpha Theta, Leadership for Life, Frog Camp

Why I chose TCU: I randomly applied to TCU and my parents made me visit, but as soon as I stepped on campus I knew it was exactly where I needed to go. TCU offers the best of both worlds with small class sizes, but “big school” sports programs. It’s perfect!

Why I’m glad I joined the JVR: I’m glad I joined JVR because I never had to take an 8 am, since we always get to sign up for classes first! More importantly though, I’m glad I joined JVR because all of my favorite classes have been honors classes.

Favorite Honors class: It’s a tie between On Human Nature and Nature of Values. One of the books in Nature of Values turned me into a vegetarian (aka Eating Animals). I loved On Human Nature, though, because we talked about nature vs. nurture, and I found it fascinating.

Favorite place on TCU’s Campus: The library. I have no idea why, but I always love going there.

Favorite JVR memory: My junior year, we got to go to Reata for dinner and see Spring Awakening at Bass Hall. It was such a great night with all my honors friends!

Coolest TCU or JVR experience: Hands-down going to the Rose Bowl. It was one of the best experiences of my life. GO FROGS!!

Favorite TV show and why: I am completely obsessed with Revenge because it’s so dramatic. If you watch it, you almost can’t help but become completely addicted. It’s great.

Three unusual things about myself:

  1. I am a vegetarian because of a book I read in Nature of Values (Thank you Dr. P – my mom is still upset with you!).
  2. My parents moved to Washington DC my freshman year of college, so whenever I go home, I’m not really going home…
  3. I was a cheerleader at TCU my freshman year!
