Major: International Convergence Journalism

What I want to do with my major: I want to be a missionary documentarian…travel with camera and a message!

Campus involvement: JVR Honors Cabinet, South Cliff Baptist Church Bible study leader for upperclassmen girls, News Director for KTCU News, Model United Nations Head Delegate for DC, Delegate for International Model United Nations (in France!), Staff Reporter for the 109.org news site, Writer for Image Magazine, Love for Lancaster leader, now a vlogger for JVR!

Why I chose TCU: I wish I had a neat story, I really don’t. Ultimately, I was set to go to UT…then I came to TCU and all bets were off, I was a Horned Frog. I prayed about it and unmistakably had most peace about TCU…the scholarship money didn’t hurt either. Now, it’s my single handed mission to make Fort Worth weird…as that’s the only piece of UT I still covet.

Why I’m glad I joined the JVR: I felt like I was an honors student before I was a TCU student. I started out with Frog Camp London, and my best friends, who remain my best friends to this day, came from that Honors trip. We were all very different and had come from incredibly diverse backgrounds but we generally bonded over the fact that we were committed to over-involvement and late nights studying. After learning the necessary life lesson of the downfalls of over-commitment in college, it was JVR that grounded me as the one thing at TCU I knew, no matter what, I wanted to remain involved with as much as possible. I identify with JVR.

Favorite Honors class: Honors Macro and Cultural memory I … in Honors student fashion, I have two favorites.

Favorite place on TCU’s Campus: Froghenge at night with my best friends playing music, eating ice cream.

Favorite JVR memory: At the National Convention of Honors Colleges last year, I made up a dance with two of my fellow students, entirely centered around this cheesecake that I’d had at a dinner. Dr. P was a fan of our dance, and I told him that while cheering at the game I would make my stunt partner put me in a stunt and I would do the cheesecake dance with my pom-poms up in the air. Which of course, I did. I treasure the “cool-points” I gained from that expression of my allegiance to the JVR. Later in the game one of the other “choreographers” was seen doing the cheesecake dance on the big screen. It was a JVR dance revolution!

Coolest TCU or JVR experience: Gosh, where to begin. First to mind was in London, with people I had just met a few days before, stuck in a completely pitch-dark room…expected to eat the unidentified dinner placed before me. I had no sense of where I was or what I was eating but the bond that comes from an experience like that is pretty remarkable. Not only are you in a foreign country where you’re not really used to the food, but now you’re expected to eat it without the comfort of knowing what it is at all…or even seeing it. Some students ate chicken hearts, some ate kangaroo, and some munched on the seemingly safe bread rolls while I have to admit I threw a few across the room. Interesting what happens when no one can see you.

Favorite TV show and why: What I Like About You. Sorry . . . I’m 12 and think Amanda Bynes is funny. Honestly, the only thing I watch is CNN, BBC and MSNBC…before you call me pompous remember I’m studying international journalism, and hush!

Three unusual things about myself:

1. I played Baby Jesus when I was a wee tot.

2. When I was in middle school, I was 4 foot 3 . . .a legal dwarf.

3. I have a secret talent for impressions but very rarely whip out that party trick. If you think “Shakira” has made an appearance, the party has started.
