Hometown: Austin, TX
Major: Political Science and Spanish
What I want to do with my major: I would eventually like to own an Oil and Gas company that specializes in drilling in South America.
Campus involvement: I am an officer in my fraternity, the treasurer of the JVR Honors Cabinet and a member of Mesa Hispanica, the TCU Spanish club.
Why I chose TCU: Although both of my parents are TCU alumni and I grew up a Horned Frog fan, I ultimately chose TCU because I felt that it offered a welcoming community and academically stimulating environment. It was a tough choice (I almost went to Tulane instead) but in the end I feel that I made the right decision. What really tipped the scales however was my admittance to the Honors College. I’m so happy to be a member of the Horned Frog Family and cannot wait to see what the coming years will bring!
Why I’m glad I joined the JVR: While being a member of the Honors College certainly has it’s perks (early enrollment, Milton-Daniel, etc.) the reason I love JVR is because of the classes themselves. In my experience, Honors classes offer a more challenging and interesting perspective on the subject matter that they teach. The classes encourage students to push themselves to attain a higher level of excellence through both effort and careful thought.
Favorite Honors class: My favorite Honors class that I have taken thus far is Nature of Values in which we discuss and analyze the different values systems of individuals within works of literature.
Favorite place on TCU’s Campus: My favorite place on campus is Market Square in the BLUU! I love all the fresh food and diverse dining options that it provides especially the stir-fry!
Favorite JVR memory: My favorite memory of JVR took place in Frog Camp Rome. We shot a video in the Piazza Navona for Frogs for the Cure and everyone on the trip did Shakira’s Waka Waka to the amusement of Romans and tourists alike.
Coolest TCU or JVR experience: Unquestionably Frog Camp Rome. It was an unbelievable opportunity to get to travel through Rome and absorb the history and culture of a fascinating city.
Favorite TV show and why: House. No question. I love to watch this infamous physician as he solves cases that other doctors are unable to figure out.
Three unusual things about myself:
1. I’m working to get my pilot’s license
2. My grandmother holds the record for the largest leopard ever shot in Kenya.
3. I’ve changed my majors 4 times.
