Hometown: Canyon, TX
Major: Entrepreneurial Management/Chemistry minor
What I want to do with my major: Go to medical school and be a surgeon…not the traditional business major path.
Campus involvement: Neeley Fellows, Reformed University Fellowship, Frog Camp, Pi Kappa Phi, Student Foundation
Why I chose TCU: I knew I wanted to do business or journalism, and TCU has great programs in both of those fields—although I now don’t intend to do anything in either field! I also loved the campus, the people I met here, and Fort Worth (and the scholarship I got made it possible).
Why I’m glad I joined the JVR: It’s very hard not to love TCU as a student. It’s next to impossible not to as a JVR student. I went to London for Frog Camp before my freshmen year. I lived in Clark Hall, the Honors residence hall at the time, when I was a freshman, and never met a stranger in there—everybody is so friendly! Registering for classes early makes life so much easier, too. And, no description of the JVR experience is complete without the best part—First Monday Breakfasts in the Honors College. Free catered breakfast—enough said.
Favorite Honors class: Marketing Management with Dr. Moncrief
Favorite place on TCU’s Campus: It used to be the top of the football stadium, before they blew it up. I hope they “let” students back up there after construction is complete. For now,
Favorite JVR memory: During Frog Camp London, we had about 3 hours of free time on afternoon. Two other freshmen and my brother, the camp director, and I took the train out to Wimbledon and tried to climb the wall into the facilities during the Roddick-Federer championship match in 2009.
Coolest TCU or JVR experience: I went to New York City with the Neeley Fellows Business Honors program Spring Break of my sophomore year. We got to visit the New York Stock Exchange, top investment banks and marketing firms, and see all the sights in the city. Although I really wanted to go to the beach before the trip, it ended up being the best Spring Break I’ve ever had.
Favorite TV show and why: Modern Family. My goal in life is to be just like Phil Dunphy.
Three unusual things about myself:
1). I have a twin that goes to Texas Tech (no, we’re not identical).
2). I have run two marathons and cycled across Florida.
3). I have changed majors 4 times (2 less than the national average!) and I’ll still graduate on time.
