Honors Undergraduate Researcher Aims to Help Children with Learning Disabilities

Andrea Salazar is an international student from Nicaragua and a scholar in the John V. Roach Honors College, Salazar is a senior majoring in speech-language pathology in the Harris College of Nursing & Health Sciences and minoring in child development, a cross-discipline minor housed in the College of Science & Engineering. A recipient of an Honors Undergraduate Research Grant, she is exploring effective interventions for bilingual students with learning disabilities.

Roach Honors College, will be featured in the spring lecture series at the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History. Gooding is the chair of TCU’s Race & Reconciliation Initiative and will address the topic “Navigating the Road to Reconciliation” at his lecture.

A brand-new Honors Colloquium, “City as Text: Fort Worth,” doesn’t require any physical or digital textbooks. Instead, Honors professors Wendy Williams and Frederick Gooding, Jr., who teach separate sections of the course, encourage their students to “read” the city of Fort Worth to understand it as they would any useful textbook.
